Merry Christmas From Subset – Looking Forward to 2010

by Subset on December 18, 2009

rockin christmasHey there Subsetters!

As 2009 is slowly drawing to a close and the 4 guys are looking forward to spending time with their families and friends either in the UK or over in France it’s time to reflect on what’s happened this year.

Rom, Rob, Steve and Jay are amazed that they only got together in the same place with their instruments at the end of November 2008 and after 3 months or so of rehearsals, writing and studio sessions they appeared as Subset to play their first show at the 333 Motherbar in Hoxton.

7 months later, with over 30 shows played ranging from Sound on Leicester Square, The Horn in St Albans, Punk in Soho and Monto Water Rats to The Unicorn and Tommy Flynn’s in Camden it has certainly been a whirlwind year.

From being totally unknown as a band they have since been asked to return to many venues and promoters have been eager to help out where they can.

This has brought about some exciting developments such as air-play on BBC and Verulum radio stations and regular gigs out in Beds, Bucks and Herts as well as in London – the guys would like to take this chance to say a huge thank you to Ryan over at the Majick Music Group for all of his enthusiasm and assistance and they look forward to working even closer with MMG in 2010.

So, 2010.

Subset’s New Year Resolution is not to slow down – they will be crashing into 2010 carrying the momentum over from 2009.

There’s a new single being released in January and they are already working on the one to follow that. They already have 13 confirmed gigs for the first 3 months of next year and many more awaiting to be.

There’s a couple of radio sessions, University shows, festivals and a mid-year mini-tour planned already!

They have more new material for the new shows and definitely have no sign of slowing down.

Jay, also known as The Sheriff, noted: “With the amount of time we share together in a small underground studio recording, in the rehearsal room, at gigs and also just hanging out at parties we have gotten to know each other really well. We have made the transition from being a group to being a band – a band of brothers if you like. We all trust each other and we’re able to be frank and honest with each other. This is the only way a working band can last”.

Keep coming back to the site for more gig updates and Subset news and it only leaves me and all at Subset HQ to wish you a peacfull Christmas and a prosperous New Year! :)

Have a good one!
